Shopping in Vilnius

A golden opportunity to get real nice and high quality amber is to be found here in Vilnius. One of the most popular souvenirs is the Baltic Amber with a lustre that will dazzle you. Strolling around in cobble-stoned alleys in one of UNESCO's world heritage old town's is a magnificent feeling. Here you find small shops offering handicrafts and local souvenirs. The shops embedded in pleasant surroundings mixed with cosy cafes and restaurants are very pleasant. This is a unique milieu, today to be founded in many places around the world.

Antiques

As in many of the Baltic States, antiquities are easy to find and often you find rare items not to be found elsewhere. In the old town and Gedimino prospektas you find antique shops with old handicraft, arts and crafts, books and of course pieces of outstanding jewellery. You will find many of them while walking down the Pilies and Dominikonu Street.

Pilies Street Market

Out of several locations across Vilnius used by market traders to sell the wares of folk artists, Pilies Street is the most popular. It has a natural advantage over the Town Hall Square as the street is generally busy and less likely to be interrupted by the political or cultural events commonly held at the Town Hall. Many people visit the street to buy gifts at Christmas or before going abroad to visit friends. The market is also popular with souvenir hunters. Souvenir shops offer amber ware and amber jewellery as well as linen clothes. The street is also known for the Kaziukas Fair, when folk artists from all four corners of Lithuania gather here to display and sell their latest merchandise.
